Weekend Wildcard: Quiet Books

I love the idea of Quite Books. They are the perfect thing to keep little hands and little minds busy and QUIET during church. This is a hard thing to do. There are some quiet books out there for sale but if you feel like putting in the time you can make your own. There are many websites that offers patterns for your very own quiet books. One that I have found that I love is A Little of This, A Little of That.

Helpful Hints: DIY Photography

I was given an amazing camera last year for Christmas and I was so pumped. I thought "Yes" I am going to be shooting some great pictures now!" Right?!? Wrong! Yes I have a great camera but I know nothing about angles, lighting, or photoshop. All of which are really helpful in capturing a great dispaly worthy shot. I have always wished I had taken some photography classes in college so I could know these things (It is my secret dream to be a professional photographer)
To my delight I have found a great site that is full of helpful tips for all kinds of Photography topics.

The site is Clickin Moms. There are great tips about every aspect of photography. Here are a few of my favorite posts:
This post gives some great tips for capturing kids. Which is something I really need.

This post gives great tips on creating a studio in a small space at home.

I really like this post because as a mother I am the one taking all of the photos so I have very few pics of me with my little girl.

So who wants to go get out their camera?

Sewing: Owl Pin Cushions

I don't know if you have noticed but owls are everywhere. Owls are on clothes, jewelry, and if you go into my daughters bedroom you will find them all over her room. This is the year of the Owl for sure. Now you can make your own Owl Pin Cushions. These could be used for other things besides Pin Cushions. Everyone will want one of these cute owls. I found these at My Owl Barn. If you are an owl lover then you have got to check this site out.

Kid's Crafts: Family Board Books

I would love to make a Family Picture Board Book for my daughter. None of our Family live near us so she does not get to see them often. This would be a great way to keep her familiar with her grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. And since she has to put everything in her mouth these days this is perfect for her. I found this DIY at http://www.ohdeedoh.com/.

DIY Artwork: Swatch Portraits

Got a plain wall in your house that needs a touch of color? All you need to brighten up that wall are some fun fabrics and embroidery hoops. When I go to the fabric store my eyes are drawn to so many beautiful designs that are pieces of art within themselves. I always think "what could I do with that in my home?" Well here is your answer: Swatch Portraits! This is so beautiful. It reminds me of my grandmother but the use of modern fabrics really punches it up and keeps it fresh. I found this idea at The Purl Bee. So who is headed to the fabric store now?

Weekend Wildcard: Closet Book Nook

I love the idea of turning a closet into a cozy book nook. My daughter's room has two closets. When she gets a little older I would love to turn it into a reading nook.
I found this one on Martha Stewart's website. I love the personalized picture frames inside and the door frame is beautiful.

This is another great nook I found on Thrifty Decor Chick. I love this one because it is small and simple.

This one is beautiful and so roomy. I love the built in shelves. I found this one at Houzz. There are several cute ideas for nooks on this website.

I love this one for a kids room. The colors are great and look at all the storage! I found this one at littlehellraiser.com. Super cute stuff.

I love the curtains on this one. I found this one at Pretty Handy Girl. Very cute blog.

Ok now I need to find a nook and take a nap!

Turkey Applique Onesie

So I saw this cute Turkey Onesie on Etsy.com and I thought to myself..."I can do that!" I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some fabric squares and some WonderUnder. I used my cricut to make a stencil for my shapes to make my Turkey. For the Turkey body I used a wide oval and I used a circle for the head. For the feathers I used a thin oval. I cut out my fabric and then followed the instruction that came with the WonderUnder to fuse the fabric. Then I ironed my shapes onto my onesie and Here it is... My Turkey onesie:
I like the way the pattern fabric looks compared to plain fabric. It gives it a little bit of a girly touch. Now my little bit is ready for Thanksgiving!

Handmade Flowers Monday: Coffee Filter Flowers

Flowers are so expensive these days and they usually only last a week or two if they are high quality. Why not make an arrangement that will last as long as you like them. This beautiful arrangement of flowers is made from Coffee filters. I know it is hard to believe but for the cost of a package of Coffee filters you can have this amazing bouquet. I found this beautiful arrangement of Coffee Filter Flowers at a great blog called Aunt Peaches. I am defiantly going to have to make these at the next bridal shower I host. What a great find!

Helpful Hints Friday: Declutter in 40 days

I don't know about you but my house is full of clutter. I need a major winter cleaning! Well here is a guide 40 bags in 40 days. This is such a helpful idea and I like how it is broken up in day by day so you don't get completely overwhelmed. I found this on a great website called Little Lucy Lu. Go by and check her out.

Sewing Thursday: Ruffle Tie and V-neck T-shirt

I love this idea! This Ruffle Tie t-shirt is just a tie from a thrift store sewn to a v-neck with a button. What a cute idea. This was on a really cute blog called Mckell's Closet. I loved the simplicity of it and the vintage look for so little cost. This look is so unique. You are sure to have everyone asking "Where did you get that shirt?" Now if I could only learn to sew... that is a totally different quest!

Kid's craft Wednesday: Sensory Bottles

For Kid's craft Wednesday I decided to choose a craft made for kids instead of a craft made by kids. There will be some weeks I will do crafts made by kids but right now I am really interested in things I can make for my daughter for Christmas. These Sensory Bottles seem like they would be perfect for a Christmas gift for my eight month old. They are inexpensive and promise hours of fun. I found this idea at this lovely blog called Pink Pistachio. If you get the chance go and check out her blog. I can not wait to make these!

I am obsessed right now with crafts made from pages of books. There are so many cute ideas for using old book pages in your crafts. If you don't have any old books you are willing to start tearing into you can always go to Dollar Tree and buy some cheap hardbacks. The pages are sturdy and they look oh so pretty. I love this idea for Storybook Paper Roses. These would look so great at a shower. I found this how to on a super cute blog called 100 Layer Cake. If you get the opportunity hop on over there and see all of her cute designs. These flowers are a must try!

A week of crafty inspiration

Well I have discovered that it can sometimes to be hard to craft and take care of a six month old... BUT... my creative juices are still flowing. Thanks to the wonder of Pinterest I have discovered so many wonderful ideas that I want to put on my quest list. I have decided to share them with the "world out there". Every day (child allowing) I am going to post one of these inspirations that I want to try out. Hopefully I will get to do them myself eventually and I can post how they go but until I get the time and extra cash flow I am going to post my hopeful future quests here.

I am going to try to have a theme for each day of the week:
Monday- Handmade flowers
Tuesday- DIY art work
Wednesday- Child crafts
Thursday- Beginning Sewing
Friday- Household tips
Weekend- Wildcard

These are of course subject to change as my interests change but right now these are the things that are really on my radar. There are so many amazing blogs out there and I can not wait to share my finds. Let the inspiration begin!
